The herpes simplex virus can infect a person by close skin contact. Herpes is caused by a virus called herpes simplex virus. There are two types of this virus. The herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV1), can cause wounds around the mouth. Another type is the herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV2) that can cause
sexually transmitted disease. It is called a genital herpes. This type can cause blisters and painful attacks within the genital area.
Type 1 herpes virus can be spread through kissing, or simply through saliva. If the person knows that he or she already has the
herpes virus, he or she should not allow sharing his eating stuff with anyone, such as spoon, fork or cups. This is to stop the saliva to transfer to others.
The type 2 herpes virus, on the other hand, can be acquired through intimate skin contact or sexual activity with a person who has the disease. Hence, it is proper to protect you and your partner from any possible transfer of the virus. Of course, the best way to avert this type is not to have sex at all, or you may use a
latex condom for protection.
