Among men and women perhaps the most common way to transmit the herpes virus is via sexual contact. Even though the more prevalent type is the herpes that infect only the area of the face around the lips, genital herpes is also contagious. They appear on the skin as open sores and blisters.
In the beginning, herpes doesn't manifest itself strongly. This is the reason why some people realize they are infected when it's already too late. Better yet, they have neglected or refused to
use condoms as protection from the disease. In fact, any
form of prophylactic is better than none.
Latex condoms don't even assure total protection. The important thing is to cover all infected areas and if a man wearing a latex condom cannot do this, there is high likelihood that the disease will eventually spread. The best course of action is to stop having sex. This may seem brutal at first, but in the light of how easy the transmission of the herpes virus and
how incurable the disease can be, abstention from sex is perhaps the most expedient way to live through it.
