Herpes virus can be
transmitted sexually. It infects the genital and mouth area which causes blisters and sores. The disease is not very life-threatening not unless it develops on infants which could lead to meningitis complications. There are two main types of herpes
simplex virus.
These two types are almost identical, sharing about 50% of their DNA.
Herpes simplex type 1 infects the mouth. This is commonly referred as cold sores. The virus will first establish itself in the trigeminal ganglion. This ganglion is a group of nerve cells found near the ears.
