
Herpes virus infection is relatively non-life threatening especially in adults. Herpes infection, on the other hand, may be fatal to infants when complication such as encephalitis develops during the infection. Presently, cure for herpes is yet to be found, although there are
preventive measures such as vaccines. Herpes infection is usually recurring.
The first symptoms of
herpes infection which may occur within two to twenty days after contact are red and
sensitive skin in the genital or mouth area which then develops into blisters or bumps. After blistering, skin may be healed and new skin tissues are regenerated. Painful, itchy and burning sensations may be felt over the infected area.
