Vaccination has prevented many
forms of viral diseases such as polio, smallpox, tetanus, tuberculosis, etc. Nonetheless, some viruses seem to be resilient that vaccination is not possible. There is also this trend that new viruses seem to crop up every time a new vaccine or cure is invented.
More potent viruses and deadly viruses are being discovered. Herpes virus is one of the viruses which still has no cure nor definitive vaccine available. Recently, one vaginal gel, PRO 2000, was investigated for its apparent effect in
inhibiting HIV and herpes simplex virus. The gel works by killing the virus before entering the
human body.
